The Guided Adventures & Host Manager leads from the front, combining hands-on operational management with strong people leadership. This role is central to delivering exceptional outdoor guest experiences through a streamlined, responsive, and empowered team structure that includes Thredbo Guided Adventures and Outdoor Hosts. The role requires a visible, active leader who engages directly with both staff and to ensure safe, efficient, and exceptional experiences. The Manager balances strategic oversight with real-time, on-the-ground problem solving, while fostering a motivated, well-supported team culture and enhancing efficiency through simple, well-organised systems.

About the Role

  • Lead the daily delivery of all outdoor programs with a strong on-mountain presence and hands-on approach.
  • Support the development and refinement of outdoor experiences to enhance engagement, storytelling, and product value.
  • Collaborate with key departments (Patrol, Mountain Operations, Marketing, etc.) to align operations and guest outcomes.
  • Manage environmental responsibilities by ensuring all outdoor activities adhere to NPWS and EVT sustainability standards.
  • Leads the Outdoor Hosts team to deliver exceptional guest service, monitoring gate access and resolving guest enquiries.

About You

  • Full Driver’s Licence
  • Valid NSW WWCC
  • Demonstrated hands-on leadership in outdoor, tourism, or guiding operations.
  • Proven people management skills, with experience building motivated and high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and operational systems.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing duties in varied alpine conditions.
  • Familiarity with Kosciuszko National Park and surrounding alpine regions.
  • Experience developing or refining outdoor programs.
  • Outdoor leadership or guiding qualifications (Desirable)
  • First Aid certifications - HLTAID003, HLTAID005, or SISOOPS305A (Desirable)
  • Avalanche Safety - AST 1 minimum, AST 2 preferred (Desirable)
  • NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) (Desirable)
