About the Role
We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead our business operations in Chowder Bay while also driving strategic growth.
This is a unique role combining:
- Operations Management - ensuring Harbour Lodge and Saltwater School run smoothly, safely, and with excellent guest experiences.
- Team leadership - motivating and supporting a small but passionate staff team.
- Strategic growth - overseeing sales, marketing, and partnerships to grow our client base and community impact.
You’ll work closely with our Senior Management Team to make operational decisions, improve systems, and shape the future of our organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead operational decisions to achieve the organisation’s vision and strategy for Harbour Lodge and Saltwater School (Chowder Bay entities).
- Direct overall operations and resources across Chowder Bay entities.
- Drive sales, marketing, and new business development.
- Ensure a highly functioning team, motivating staff and managing performance.
- Plan, implement, and manage daily operations, including financial targets and compliance.
- Oversee bookings, client engagement, and staffing needs
- Manage budgets, set rates, monitor expenses, and report on financial performance.
- Lead internal and external communications, including newsletters and social media.
- Oversee facilities, assets, and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, risk management, and incident response.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, staff, and partners.
- Project manage the development of new business entities and innovative experiences.
- Align decisions and promotion with the not-for-profit, for-purpose core of the Foundation
About You (Essential Criteria)
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in hospitality, accommodation, or operations management, ideally within events, venues, tourism, outdoor education, or educational environments.
- Proven track record in business development and marketing, with measurable success in increasing client bookings and expanding market reach.
- Strong leadership skills with a history of supporting, motivating, and retaining high-performing staff teams.
- Exceptional organisational abilities, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach to problem solving in dynamic settings.
- Clear commitment to purpose-driven work, valuing people, community impact, and a workplace culture that extends beyond traditional office roles.

- Salary: $80,000-$90,000 p.a. + superannuation
